Stearns Park
The Stearns Hotel is a historic hotel in Ludington, Michigan. Known for its excellent service, the Stearns was built in 1903 by local businessman Justus Stearns. The hotel was named for him. During his lifetime, Justus Stearns had established himself as one of the most successful businessmen in the midwestern U.S., and it’s no wonder why people from all over the world flock to Ludington to experience its unique hospitality.
The town’s location is a draw for many people, including skateboarders. Located on the shore of beautiful Pere Marquette Lake, the park is within walking distance of several fun activities in the town. The breakwater entrance is a popular location for people looking for a beach, and you can enjoy the pristine white sand there. You’ll also find restrooms on both ends of the park.
Near our motel, the Ludington Skate Plaza is an excellent place to take your children for a skate. There are several bowls, a shallow end, quarter pipes, flat rails, and other features for skaters of all levels. There is even a bogus funbox for tech decks. The angled parking allows you to catch a sunset or sunrise while you’re skating.
Ludington Maritime Museum
If you’re looking for a place to spend the day while you’re in the area, you should check out the Ludington Maritime Museum and skate park. These two attractions offer plenty of activities for the whole family. Ludington is also home to the Mason County Sculpture Trail, which features several sculptures and pays homage to the town’s history. There’s something for everyone at this park, from nature lovers to history buffs.
The Ludington Maritime Museum is housed in a former U.S. Coast Guard station. The museum’s exhibits explore maritime history and feature interactive displays. The museum also features historic photographs and the voices of locals who helped shape the region’s past. Kids will enjoy the replica pilothouse, where they can sit in the cab of a car ferry and pilot the ferry. The museum is great for the whole family, and is also close to the skate park.

Ludington State Park
If you enjoy skating, Ludington State Park has a skate park for your enjoyment. This popular park has a wide breakwater, a skate park, and concessions. It also includes a beach with turquoise water that reminds many people of the Caribbean. It’s located right next to the state park’s lighthouse and offers several opportunities for outdoor recreation. The park has restrooms located on both ends of the beach, a playground, and grills.
The Ludington State Park skate park is located on the grounds of the park, a 5-300-acre land mass. You can also find 24 miles of trails, with two groomed for cross country skiing and the rest for snowshoeing. While there, you should be sure to check out the Civilian Conservation Corps-built shelters on the Logging Trail. The stone chimney is a cozy winter warming station, and wood is usually piled nearby.
The City of Ludington has an overall goal for recreation and physical activity in the park. Among those goals are safe places for healthy behavior, increased opportunities for recreation, and improved accessibility. These goals are accomplished by evaluating the projects based on information, need, and availability. The priorities are updated periodically, and projects with the most potential for bringing new opportunities are often prioritized above other ideas.
